Bass’n the St. Lawrence
muddy water, then the 1000 Islands is NOT for you! However, if you love to fish pencil reeds, cattails, willow trees, rocky shoals and shorelines, docks, lily pads, shallow and deep weed lines, deep ledges and shallow spawning flats, we have the crystal clear water for you! The St. Lawrence is full of largemouth and smallmouth bass that receive virtually no pressure. All forms of artificial baits work here but the most consistent are soft plastic worms, minnows, tubes and frogs. For colour you need the natural shades of melons and green pumpkin, along with white. In hard baits you can use spinnerbaits, rapalas, and top water for some real excitement. All forms of live bait will catch you the bass of the river. Worms, minnows, and crawfish are the most common choices. It is not uncommon to have 30 fish days here with big fish running 4 to 6 lbs. I fished bass in the 1000 Islands for 35 years and have never had a day without catching bass. If you have not fished here for a while you need to come back and give it a try. Our smallmouth bass have made a big recovery in the river and we are catching some big numbers and big fish once again. If you have never been here, you need to experience these waters to see why fishermen are coming here from Florida and Texas to catch our bass! Tight Lines Doug Amos 1000 Islands Guide Service |
